Hampton Inn Charlotte/Matthews

We checked in pretty late and were helped by a nice women. We were given 2 keys for each room (2 total). The lobby was clean and the elevator was easy to reach. The parking was not the best as they filled up pretty quick, and have one side door entrance. We got 2 rooms that conjoined and they were both perfect. Very clean, beds were soft, tvs worked, we had mini fridge, tvs, microwaves, and a desk. We woke up to enjoy a wonderful breakfast spread in the lobby. The set up with tables could be better, it was really inconvenient having to ask other guests to scoot in because they have them lined up too close and blocking the tables in with others, made for a very rough and inconvenient breakfast. But over all it was a great stay!

horrible smell on the first floor. didnt eat the breakfast because of the smell. (dont trust it). floor/carpet inside of our room was damp. good if you are visiting family quick and want to stay somewhere close by. quiet. rooms overall are decent

As many of the other reviews noted, the first floor does have mild, lingering putrid scent, but it seems like steps have been taken to address it, as it wasn't as strong as other reviewers seem to indicate. Rooms are nice and clean. While my room didn't have any issues, 4 of my coworkers mentioned having problems with the plumbing (showers not draining, toilet clogging). It's very close to a lot of different businesses in Matthews, everything is within walking distance, with the exception of maybe a gas station. Continental breakfast is provided free of charge, the waffle batter for the waffle maker was very tasty. All of the cartons of milk that were in the frige were expired and tasted like poison, but as soon as I notified the front desk, they removed them all and placed fresh cartons in there. I never got any attitude when I had to approach the front desk with an issue. All-in-all, for the price, it's a fairly nice hotel. There are certainly fancier hotels out there with more luxury, but they typically cost quite a bit more.
STAY WOKE
THE WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE EVER. There were bugs in my room and some of the appliances in the washroom were falling apart. I had to call twice before the lady switched my room. The customer service was rocky. My checkout time was 12 pm. I was getting harassed all the way from 10:45am-11:30 am by the cleaning lady and being told to hurry up. My sheets were dirty in my first room and overall it was an uncomfortable stay. Book somewhere else. I wouldve given it a one star but there was one lady at the front desk who helped me with my outfit and she was nice. THATS ALL.

Upon arrival there was nobody at the front desk. The hotel was empty and the attendant assigned us a room at the end of the hallway on the 3rd floor. The elevator was out of service, the ice maker also out of service. In the morning we discovered 3 small roaches in the room. Upon checkout the attendant was on his personal cell phone, we had to call his attention twice. We reported the roaches in the room and he ignored us. I asked for the managers business card and he wrote down a phone# on a post it note. When We received the folio there was a parking recovery fee listed. When we asked what this is about, he told us that this is fox the parking lot cleaning. What BS is that. NEVER AGAIN. Hilton appears to go down in their quality of service.
